Jennifer Brin brings strong management and program operation experience to the Florida Women’s BusinessCenter. Ms. Brin’s professional background includes extensive leadership roles in the non-profit industry, with experience in finance, fundraising, event planning, educational programming & training, and publicity & marketing. Ms. Brin has a long history of working in the non-profit arena for several outstanding organizations which include Family Service, Inc., Kids In Distress, and Children’s Home Society. Her passion for helping individuals achieve their potential is in direct alignment with her career.
Prior to serving as the Director of the Florida Women’s Business Center, Ms. Brin was the Director of Programs and Community Services at Family Service, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan for two years. She provided leadership and set the strategy and policy for a division comprised of nine distinct programs serving 1,000 clients annually. During her tenure with Family Service, some of her accomplishments include authoring several grants and introducing business development, organizational, and cost-management initiatives to capture new revenues and enhance efficiency. She re-launched the agency’s marketing initiatives by delivering presentations, hosting community events, and redesigning a variety of publicity materials to enhance community presence and increase referrals.
While working at Kids in Distress, in Fort Lauderdale she was the Program Supervisor of the Healthy Families Program for two and half years, before being selected as the agency’s first-ever Staffing Coordinator for the Residential and Preschool Programs. Ms. Brin began her professional career at Children’s Home Society Intercoastal Division in Fort Lauderdale, as a Keeping Families Together Counselor. In this role she provided in-home counseling services to families.
Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Ms. Brin earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida State University where she was also awarded membership in the Phi Alpha Honor Society. Immediately following her graduation, she continued her education at Florida Atlantic University earning her Master’s in Business Administration while working fulltime all the while. Ms. Brin is also certified as a Social Worker Field Supervisor and has supervised and trained numerous Master’s and Bachelor’s level student interns.
Volunteerism is an important element of Ms. Brin’s life. She prides herself on being an active member of the community and has given back to the community through many hours of volunteer work with a number of charitable and community organizations. Several of these notable organizations have include: American Red Cross, Junior League, Ronald McDonald House, United Way, and Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity.
