New Entrepreneur Resource For Baby Boomers |

Baby Boomers in Broward County have a powerful ally starting this fall with the establishment of the Boomer Entrepreneur Initiative. If you’re a Boomer who is retired or will soon retire and you are thinking about starting your own business or are a small business owner already wanting to accelerate growth or add a social impact component to your business, you won’t want to miss the Boomer Entrepreneur Initiative. Workshops offer the boomer retiree real-life business applications, ranging from an Introduction to Technology and Computers for Business to Keeping the Books. As an added benefit, they can receive individual business counseling sessions that are tailored to their specific business needs. Additionally, monthly networking events will be provided offering Boomers a place to forge lasting business relationships and share lessons learned.
The Boomer Entrepreneur Initiative is funded through the Community Foundation of Broward’s Re-engage for Good Initiative, designed to enrich our community through the engagement of retired boomers for public good. This program is part of an effort to help find productive encore careers for the coming flood of retiring baby boomers. Many want to find work that has social impact after their primary career ends. Entrepreneurship offers boomers the opportunity for a second career tailored to their interests and social entrepreneurship offers them a way to work towards community improvements and social change.

Broward County Office Is Back |

We are pleased to announce that a FWBC office is back in Broward County. Thanks to the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s generous support we are now located in their office at 330 N. Federal Highway, Hollywood, FL, 33020. This new partnership between the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Women’s Business Center will bring training and resources to local Broward County business owners trying to stay afloat in the current economic climate or initiate entrepreneurial ventures. The FWBC’s primary objectives are to provide: training, counseling, mentoring, resources and support to women entrepreneurs. The FWBC will offer a variety of educational workshops each month that are FREE or $15! Workshops will start in May 2010. Southwest Florida Office Opens |
|
Businesswomen in Southwest Florida have a powerful ally now with the recent establishment of a local branch of the Florida Women's Business Center in Fort Myers. It is located in the Southwest Florida Enterprise Center (SWFEC), which is located close to downtown Fort Myers and Interstate 75. The SWFEC recognized that the FWBC services aligned well with its own and generously donated office space. Local businesswomen, Deborah Shane is the Business Development Manager for the Ft. Myers branch. Her role is to provide a combination of small business training, one-on-one counseling and outreach/marketing of the program. |
